Kulp Lights K8-PB Pixel Controller (with BeagleBone Black)

The K8-PB from Kulp Lights is a compact yet highly expandable pixel controller cape designed to drive WS2811-based pixel displays. This package includes a BeagleBone Black and preloaded SD card, providing a ready-to-use controller platform.

Pixel outputs

• Local outputs:
  • 8 fused pixel string ports
  • Individual fuse and LED indicator per port
  • Up to ~800 pixels per port at 40 FPS (with power injection)
    
• Differential expansion:
  • 3 × RJ45 differential outputs
  • Supports up to 12 additional pixel strings via differential receiver boards
  • Compatible with Falcon Smart Receivers and standard differential receivers
    
• Expansion options:
  • 24-pin expansion header
  • Supports up to 16 additional pixel strings
  • Compatible with F16v4 expansion boards

Serial output

• 3-pin UART header
• Supports DMX, PixelNet, Renard, and LOR protocols

Onboard features

• Real-time clock (RTC)
• OLED display (included)
• 4 onboard push buttons for menu navigation
  

Power

• Powered from the same supply as the pixels
• Manual jumper selection for 5V or 12V operation
• Jumpers are factory-set to 12V
• Jumper change is required only when using a 5V power supply
